As part of 2011 being designated Year of the Indie Author, Author Solutions announced recently the establishment of Indie Author Month to recognize the thousands of authors that have led the most significant revolution in publishing since Gutenberg invented the printing press. Throughout the month of October, ASI will direct a number of initiatives to celebrate the indie publishing revolutions; culminating with the inaugural Indie Author Conference Oct. 14-15 in Indianapolis.

The conference will feature an prominent slate of speakers including Thomas Nelson President Michael Hyatt and indie author turned New York Times best sellet Lisa Genova. As well, attendees will attend workshops led by publishing thought leaders on topics ranging from the use of social media on book promotion to working with literary agents. We’ll have many more exciting announcements about the conference in the coming months, so “stay tuned.”

The conference is open to all authors, regardless of publisher; and even those that have yet to publish their first book. To optimize the experience for everyone, there will be a limit of only 300 authors admitted to the conference. More information is available here.

In 2011, we’re going to celebrate you, the indie author. I hope that you’ll take some time to recognize your personal achievements; as well as the affect you’ve had on readers and other authors everywhere. Congratulations!
